Representatives of Sarasota County Schools, the School Board, the city of Venice and SCTI were represented at Friday's ribbon cutting for the new SCTI center on the Venice High School campus. The ribbon was cut by School Board Vice Chair Shirley Brown, holding the scissors, assisted by Todd Bowdem, executive director of Career, Technical and Adult Education for Sarasota County Schools.
Venice High School students gained another educational opportunity Friday.
“It also saves us money,” Sarasota County Schools Superintendent Lori White said of the Sarasota County Technical Institute Venice campus. “We’ll get rid of about eight aging portables — a savings of about $40,000 a year and there is no added expense because we had already been using these.”
