Restored gondola to make parade appearance

Originally built in 1965, this gondola was destined for the dump before members of the Italian American Club of Venice restored it. The gondola will appear in this year's Venice Holiday Parade.

A gondola that was once a symbol of the city of Venice has been restored to its original beauty after nearly being taken to the dump.

Italian American Club of Venice President Bruce Bastian addressed a crowd 100 people assembled Saturday, Nov. 23 to witness a dedication of the gondola, which was created in 1965 and eventually placed in the hands of the club for safe keeping.
