Charging hybrid car in city

should cost less, owner says

The city of Venice charges $2 per hour for a motorist to use one of its electric charging stations for hybrid car. But a Venice resident says that cost is too high, especially when compared to stations in Sarasota that charge no money for a motorist to use it.

Venice resident Matthew Cummings would like the city of Venice to consider lowering the rate of the electronic vehicle charging centers in Centennial Park — especially considering that the ones in Sarasota are free.

Cummings has lived in Venice for three years with his wife but has been coming to the area since he was a child.
