Here’s another sign North Venice has arrived — the city Planning Commission approved a site and development plan this week for the area’s first McDonald’s fast food restaurant.

The restaurant will be located within the Plaza Venezia shopping center on Laurel Road, anchored by the recently opened Publix Super Market. It’s barely smaller than any other McDonald’s — measuring in at 3,908 square feet with seating for 70, compared to the average 4,000-square-foot McDonald’s building, and 24 parking spaces — and it fits snuggly into the approved parcel without room to spare.
