One of the new features at the circus this year was a laser light show were a performer stood in the middle of a swirl of laser beams and created a mesmerizing show.

Elena Stefanoua was hoisted into the sky -- held only to the rope by her very own hair. She spun and performed acrobatics while audiences looked on aghast.

From laser light shows to a woman suspended only by her hair, Cirque Italia returned to Venice this past weekend with shows that had audiences applauding.

The unique feature of Cirque Italia is its 40-foot-ring of water, which rises and falls between and during various acts. At times, it looks like a flying saucer as it rains water down on the outskirts of the performance areas.
