It’s 3 a.m when Vera Joseph’s wayward grandson Leo Joseph-Connell arrives at her apartment in New York City.

That Leo has come 4,000 miles from his home in Seattle inspired the title of Amy Herzog’s play, which runs through April 27 at the Historic Asolo Theater at The Ringling. The play is part of the Asolo Rep’s American Character Project, a five-year Asolo Rep study of what makes America unique.
