Perhaps I write this because August 21 is near, and that is the date of my late son’s birthday. He died 16 years ago.

Perhaps I write this on the heels of another life having tragically ended in an apparent suicide — that of Robin Williams. That is what the county coroner ruled as the cause of my son’s death in that small Alabama town of Gadsden.
