Former Venice High coach passes away

Charlie Hodges, one of the coaches who helped lead the first undefeated girls basketball team at Venice High School and a coach of other sports at the school for several years, died this week at the age of 66.

Hodges was born in 1947 and moved to Venice in 1956. He played football at Venice High School and still owns the team’s record for most receptions in a season with 39 during his senior season, 1964.
