Denver Shepherd, 82, of Venice, Fla. died Dec. 24, 2013. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. Denver was a Baptist, a life member of American Legion Post #159, member of the D.A.V. in Venice and life member of VFW Post #8118.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was at the jetties daily. He is survived by his wife JoAnn of Venice; daughters Gwen Heggan of Nokomis, Fla. and Nancy Dalton of Venice; sister Wilma Boone of Caneyville, Ky.; brothers Charles of Venice and Larry of Caneyville;, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held Monday, Dec. 30, 2013, at 2:30 p.m. at Gulf Pines Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post #159, 1770 East Venice Ave., Venice, FL, 34292. Ewing Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
