Dolores Hansen Pfeifle, 76, of Venice, Fla., and Petoskey, Mich., passed away Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at the Tidewell Hospice House.

Dolores was born Sept. 21, 1937, in Flint, Mich., the daughter of the late Carl J. and Edna (Layman) Hansen.

Dolores was a graduate of Petoskey High School, Class of ’55, where she met her future husband, Henry Pfeifle. She graduated from Hackly School of Nursing in Muskegon, Mich.

Dolores is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry; son Matthew and wife, Kimmy; and daughter Pamela and husband, Glenn, of Harbor Springs, Mich.; sister Judy Smith and husband BR of Ponshewaing, Mich.; brother Bill Hansen and wife, Diane, of Petoskey, Mich.; grandchildren Henry Jamin and Catalina “Katy” Pfeifle, both of Harbor Springs, Mich.; sister-in-law Helen Pfeifle, of Venice, Fla.; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and special friend Audry of Grand Rapids, Mich.

Dolores was a volunteer for the Venice Art Center. She was a member of the Sarasota Opera Guild, the Michigan Nurses Association and The Crooked Tree Art Center in Petoskey, Mich., and volunteered for both the Women’s Safe House and Hospice in Petoskey, Mich.

She and Henry traveled the 48 states, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and extensively in Europe, where they had extended stays in both London and Majorca, Spain. She was a stained-glass artist. Above all, Dolores was very family oriented.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held at a later date at the family home at Crooked Lake in Petoskey, Mich. Ewing Funeral Home, Venice, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
