Richard R. Rochester, of Venice, Fla., formerly of Northbrook, Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014.

He was the beloved husband of Florenceen Rochester (DeGrazio) for 56 years. Richard was a devoted father of five surviving children, Domineque (Scott), Richard (Kristyn), RoxAnne (Jay), Ronald (Kit) and Rory (Julie). He is survived by his 13 grandchildren, Tyler, Kelsey, Richard, Riley, Robert, John, Dominic, Margo, David, Lucas, Brittany, Brooke and Brielle. He is also survived by one great-grandson, Brayden.

He was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., the only son of Richmond Rochester and Anne Marie Rochester (Bockstahler). He was raised in Chicago, Ill., and attended St. Patrick’s High School. He served in the U.S. Army.

Richard attended the University of Illinois for his undergraduate degree and IIT Chicago Kent law school. After working for more than 30 years as an attorney for private clients, Richard served as a judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, in Chicago, Ill.

In 1994, he retired and resided in Venice, Fla., with his wife.

Services: A Memorial Service will be held in the Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church chapel,1301 Center Road, Venice, Fla., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at 10 a.m.

Contributions: In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
