Jean D. Kaiser, 89 of Centennial, Colo., formerly of Wheeling, W.V., and Venice, Fla., passed away peacefully at her residence Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.

She was born July 8, 1924, in Binghamton, N.Y., and was the daughter of the late Wilford H. Dodd and Helen Wilson Dodd Chapple, and stepdaughter to the late George Chapple.

Jean was a graduate of Brilliant, Ohio, High School, where she excelled in music and piano. She attended Bethany College, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and where she met the love of her life, the late Robert C. Kaiser.

She was a devoted wife and mother to four children, and while the career choice of raising a family quickly replaced youthful desires of becoming a concert pianist, Jean still made time outside the home to establish many friendships, volunteering at King’s Daughter and the Ohio Valley General Twig and golfing whenever possible at Wheeling Country Club and Jacaranda West Country Club.

Jean is survived by daughter Barbara Zohn and her husband, Tom, of Woodbury, Minn.; son David and his wife, Judy McGrail Kaiser, of Wake Forest, N.C.; daughter Anne Kaiser of Centennial, Colo.; son John and his wife, Amanda, of Hilton Head, S.C.; grandchildren Bridget Anderson and her husband, David, of Woodbury, Minn.; Michele Zohn and her husband, Lawrence Harrison, of Edgewater, Colo.; Tim Kaiser and his wife, Stephanie, of Mt. Lebanon, Pa.; Katie Kaiser of Centennial, Colo.; Christopher and Justin (and their mother, Lui Grohman Kaiser) and Collin Kaiser, all of Hilton Head, S.C.; and great-grandchildren Ryan and Sara Anderson and Lukas Kaiser.

Services: Friends will be received from noon to 1:30pm on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Kepner Funeral Home, 900 National Road, Wheeling WV, with the Rev. Dr. William McCory officiating. Services will be held at the funeral home immediately following visitation. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Wheeling, W.V. Personal condolences may be offered to the family at:
