George Andrew Rydout, age 94, of Venice, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 31, 2014.
He was born in Long Island City, Queens, N.Y., Nov. 28, 1919. George grew up in Jackson Heights, N.Y., and also lived in West Babylon, N.Y. In 1975, he moved to Del Ray Beach, Fla., and he had resided in Venice, Fla., since 2004.
George earned his bachelor’s degree from Long Island University and his master’s from Columbia University. He taught physical education at Harborfields High School in Greenlawn, N.Y. George was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, in service from 1942 to 1946.
Surviving family members include his children, Laura Scott of Peterborough, N.H., and Venice, Fla., and Gary Rydout of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Andrew Scott of Alexandria, Va., Emily Scott of Somerville, Mass., and Grace and Clara Rydout, both of Portland, Ore.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Evelyn Friberg Rydout, in 2006.
