Siegfried “Sigi” Weis, 87 of Venice, Fla., formerly of Germany, where he served the German Air Force and spent two years in the POW camp, passed away Friday, Apr. 4, 2014. He was born Apr. 26, 1926.

Sigi moved from Germany to Canada, then in 1956 moved to the United States, where he became an American citizen. He enjoyed sailing, ice boating and other hobbies.

After a brief service in the Peace Corps, he then moved to Florida in 1987. Sigi enjoyed carving and became a master carver, winning many awards.

He survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia; children, Michael, Frank and Pamela; brother, Didier; sister, Catherine; five stepchildren, John, Mike, Deb, Andy and Kevin; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ditlind, and son Steven.
