Helene Ann Corcoran, 92, of Nokomis, Fla., passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Tuesday, June 17, 2014.
Helene was the third-youngest and last surviving child of 11 children born to Mary and Jakob Gazdzik in Philadelphia, Pa. She loved and adored her brothers and sisters, as family was extremely important to her!
Helene spent her free time volunteering at church, gardening and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Helene was a member of the Epiphany Cathedral Council of Catholic Women — president from 1997 to 1998 — and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Knights of Columbus Council 7052.
She is survived by her daughter Connie Marie Dumas, son-in-law, Dr. Peter Dumas, and daughter Suzanne Meissler; son, Thomas Corcoran; and grandchildren, Kristen Dumas, Dana Dumas, Michael Dumas, James Dumas, Shannon Perkins, Erin Corcoran, Jennifer Schmincke, Daniel Reilly and Jillian Meissler.
She was predeceased by her son Patrick Corcoran in 1969 (Vietnam).
May she be remembered as a woman filled with love, wisdom, beauty and grace.
Services: A Mass will be held Saturday, June 21, 10 a.m. at Epiphany Cathedral, with burial in the Epiphany Memorial Gardens. Ewing Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
