Joan P. Lee, 82, of Venice, Fla., passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014.
She was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Gilman, Ill., to Lial and Mary Pollock. Joan moved to this area in 1981 from Dayton, Ohio. She was a home economics teacher as well as a homemaker who enjoyed caring for her family.
Joan and her husband, Robert, were proud to have founded the Venice Boys & Girls Club, which honored them by naming the club the Robert and Joan Lee Boys & Girls Club. Joan was also a member of Venice-Nokomis Elks Lodge 1854.
She is survived by her children, Bobby (Sally) Lawrence of Venice, Fla., and Gayle (Anthony) Egoville of North Port, Fla.; and grandchildren, Jori and Tiffany Lawrence, Morgan Hills and Alexis and Sydney Egoville. She was predeceased by daughter Shelly VanHoff in 1987.
Services: The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home, 1935 South Tamiami Trail, Venice, Fla. The Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Joan will be laid to rest at Gilman Cemetery in Gilman, Ill.
