Vincent J. Fiduccia, 89, World War II veteran, passed away Sunday, Aug. 10, 2014 at Venice Regional Bayfront Health in Venice, Fla. He was born March 14, 1925 in Chicago, Ill.

He was the beloved husband for 66 years of Blanche Fiduccia, née Carollo; devoted father of Pauline (Jim) Jakubowski and Nick (MaryAnne) Fiduccia; dear Papa of Tina (Rick) Struthers, Lisa (Sean) Loncsar and Andrew (Michelle) Jakubowski; cherished great-grandfather of Brandon, Zachery, Cody, Lindsey, Kyle, Taryn, Taylor, James Andrew (Jake ) and Tyler (TJ); loving brother of Nicholas Fiduccia and Josephine Brown; dear brother-in-law to Josephine Weathers; beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews; and devoted friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Pauline Fiduccia; and his brothers Samuel Fiduccia, Charles Fiduccia and Joseph Fiduccia. He was also predeceased by his sisters-in-law Marie Fiduccia, Ann Fiduccia, Rosetta Fiduccia, Sarah Maggiore, Rose Zacharia, Virginia Carollo, Josephine Carollo and Nancy Carollo; and his brothers-in-law Robert Weathers, Jack Carollo, Anthony Carollo, Carlo Maggiore, Alex Zacharia and Richard Brown.

He was a career banking officer at LaSalle Bank and retired after many years as assistant vice president.

He served during World War II in Japan and Korea. He participated in the Honor Flight Program in November 2012 and flew from Midway Airport to Washington, D.C., and viewed the World War II Memorial, the Vietnam National War Museum and Arlington National Cemetery with 100 World War II veterans over the age of 87.

He left Midway Airport at 5 a.m. and returned the same day at 11:30 p.m. after a full day of activities. He and the other World War II veterans received a standing ovation by thousands of family and friends at Midway Airport upon their return to Chicago.

Services: A wake will be held Friday, Aug. 15, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Meadows Funeral Home, 3615 Kirchoff Road, Rolling Meadows, Ill. His funeral will be held at Holy Family Church , 2515 West Palatine Road, Inverness, Ill., Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Holy Family Church at 9:30 a.m in the Chapel preceding the 10:30 a.m Mass. Interment will be at St . Joseph Cemetery, 3100 North Thatcher, River Grove, Ill. Arrangements are by Toale Brothers — Ewing Chapel, Venice, Fla., and Meadows Funeral Home, Rolling Meadows, Ill.
