As the final week before Christmas break approached, the Venice soccer team prepared itself to play a three-game stretch that had the potential to define the rest of its season.
While injuries and an extended football season kept some key players off the field, Coach Peter Tomich had every reason to consider a 3-3-2 start adequate under the circumstances. But, for a team that last season went to the state final four, “adequate” wouldn’t be acceptable for long under any circumstances.
