For the first time in 21 years, the Venice High boys cross country team has earned the right to run in the state finals. The Indians finished fifth in the 16-team field at Saturday’s Region 3 meet in Brandon with a total of 160 points.

Colin Naaman (15, 17:05.50) was the top runner for Venice, and his top-15 finish would’ve earned him a spot at the state meet even if the Indians had failed to finish in the top six.
