A season that began with optimistic dreams of a state championship came to a thudding end Friday night when the Venice Indians (8-3) were defeated 31-19 by the undefeated Armwood Hawks in Seffner.

The Hawks (11-0) were led by junior quarterback Noah Johnson, who ran for 122 yards and a pair of scores and threw well enough (11-for-16, 111 yards) to make the Indians defense respect the threat of a pass.
