Clutch free-throw shooting propelled the Venice High boys basketball team (1-0) to a 24-point fourth quarter as the Indians pulled away from Lakewood Ranch for a 53-40 win Thursday night in Venice.

After missing eight of their 12 free-throw attempts through three quarters, the Indians connected on 13 of 18 from the charity stripe in the final eight minutes, taking advantage of the Mustangs’ aggressive defense.
