Two seasons ago, the Venice Indians Wrestling team did not send a single wrestler to the state wrestling meet. Last season, they righted the ship, as five of their 14 wrestlers qualified for the state meet. This year, coach Dan Kelly looks to have his team regain their rightful place on the podium to end the season.
“We have to get back in the top 10 at state,” Kelly said. “We want to have at least seven state qualifiers and have most of those guys place at state. If we accomplish those two things, then we will get back on the podium.”
