McSwain finishes second for Player of the Year

Venice High setter Kiona McSwain made the most of her only season as an Indian. After leading the Indians to the state semifinals, McSwain nearly won the school’s second consecutive Florida Dairy Farmers Player of the Year Award, finishing second in 6A with 102 points. Ocala Vanguard’s Reagan Davey won the award, receiving 128 points. Former Indian Holly Mattmuller won the 7A Player of the Year Award in 2012.

After transferring from Riverview to replace Danika Yoder, McSwain tallied 951 assists, 238 digs, 38 kills and 20 blocks in 2013.
