Mustangs stun Indians, 6-1, in district semifinal

Only 11 days had passed between the scoreless draw the Venice High and Lakewood Ranch boys soccer teams played on Jan. 10 and Tuesday’s District 11 semifinal showdown, the teams’ fourth matchup this season.

The final battle of the season, however, had nothing in common with the first three, as Lakewood Ranch scored twice in the first 12 minutes and dominated throughout to upset the top-ranked Indians, 6-1, at Powell Davis Stadium.
