Venice Indians coach Larry Sandburg wanted to make sure his team didn’t overlook the Port Charlotte Pirates in the Class 6A-District 11 tournament matchup.

The Indians dominated the first two meetings but needed a sixth-inning rally to defeat the Pirates 6-3 and advance to the tournament final. With a berth in the tournament final, the Indians also qualify for the state tournament.
