While the results may not have been what they were looking for, the Venice Lady Indians tennis team were happy that they were just one of the teams to make it to this week’s FHSAA 3A State Finals in Altamonte Springs — something that had been their goal since the first day of practice in January.

“We were disappointed in the result, but certainly not the effort,” Venice girls tennis head coach Bob Halsted said. “All the girls played as hard as they could. I would say that they were off just a little. They all had close first sets, but lost those and maybe didn’t play up to their potential in the second sets.”
