Venice’s Edmonds brings home medal

The Venice High School boys track team members that took part in the FHSAA 3A State Final meet last Saturday night in Jacksonville included, from left to right, Venice High track Coach Jason Potter, 4x400 meter relay team members Marcus Laurin, John Cokley and Noah Montgomery; discus thrower Jovan Edmonds and 4x400 meter team member Shane Burns.


The 4x400 meter team broke their own school record, which they established as Regional Champions one week prior, with a new record time of 3:22.95

For Venice High School’s senior thrower Jovan Edmonds on Saturday, the throwing wasn’t as hard as the waiting.

Edmonds took seventh in the Class 3A discus at the FHSAA Finals track meet at University of North Florida’s Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville with a mighty heave of 149 feet, 10 inches. It landed Venice its only medal of the state meet.
