Venice softball players Nikkie Kovalsky and Taylor Baker — the formidable pitching/catching duo from this year’s 22-4 Venice Lady Indians squad — are taking their talents to the next level next year.

Kovalsky, who has been the team’s No. 1 starter for the last two years, finishing this season with 278 strikeouts, has signed a letter of intent to play for St. Petersburg College. Located in Clearwater, it’s a two-year athletic school that also offers four-year degree programs.
