Venice baseball on doorstep of dynasty

After last year's state title win at JetBlue Park in Fot Myers, VHS players throw up two fingers, one for each 7A title they'd won the past two years. This year's squad is looking for the program's third straight state title, something which has never been done by a public school in state history.

If you spend a few minutes with members of the Venice baseball team, you wouldn’t have a clue that they’re on the doorstep of achieving something that’s never been done by a public school in Florida.

In fact, the entire team is trying not to look ahead and is locked in on tonight’s (Wednesday’s) state semifinal opponent: Winter Haven.
