Basketball classic to benefit Kyle Jutras

Former VHS basketball athlete Kyle Jutras (center, with his his family), now coach and teacher at Sarasota High School, fights rare form of cancer, known as NUT Midline Carcinoma. Six high school basketball teams will play in the inaugural Kyle Jutras Basketball Classic to benefit the Kyle Jutras Fund in November.

Several of Sarasota County’s high school basketball teams are teaming up for the inaugural Kyle Jutras Basketball Classic in November to help a former Venice High School basketball player who is battling a rare and dangerous form of cancer.

Kyle Jutras was a standout basketball player in 2008-09 and teamed with Trey Burton to lead the Indians to the Regional Final Four. He’s now a 23 year-old teacher at Sarasota High School who has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as NUT Midline Carcinoma that has him battling for his life.
