Venice resident and ultra cycler Jacquie Schlitter, co-owner of Vite Bikes in Trikes in Venice, is competing in her first solo attempt in the Race Across America.
Over 200 competitors and 800 crew members from 35 countries began “The World’s Toughest Bike Race” in Oceanside, Calif., near San Diego, Calif. They have a maximum of 12 days to complete the race or they are disqualified. The current record was set last year by Christoph Strasser of Austria, who completed the solo competition of more than 3,100 miles in 7 days and 22 hours.
