The Venice Little League junior division All-Star team’s hopes of capturing the District 16 crown came to an end with a 9-2 loss to Sarasota in the final game of the district tournament Friday night at Twin Lakes Park in Sarasota.

Sarasota took advantage of errors, a passed ball and a clutch hit to jump to a 5-0 lead after one inning of play. Venice loaded up the bases in the top of the third inning and would score when Garrett Lehmann crossed the plate on a fielder’s choice ground ball by Zeek Sigmon.
