Rowing event brings breast cancer survivors together

More than 100 breast cancer survivors from all over the state of Florida will gather at Nathan Benderson Park on Aug. 9 for a day of dragon boat racing, coaching, exercise instruction and more.

More than 100 breast cancer survivors from throughout Florida will gather at Nathan Benderson Park on Aug. 9 for a day of dragon boat racing, coaching, exercise instruction and more.

The survivors will represent seven Florida cities, including the Sarasota area. The event is a preview of the 2014 International Breast Cancer Paddlers’ Commission Participatory Dragon Boat Festival taking place Oct. 24-26 at the same venue, where more than 3,000 BCS paddlers and supporters, representing more than 10 countries, will converge.
