Guthrie wins Gold Glove honors

The Rawlings Gold Glove Award that will be presented to former Venice shortstop Dalton Guthrie. The award is one of nine given out each year around the nation and winners receive this trophy, which is the same trophy presented to Major League Baseball players who are selected for the award each year for superior fielding skills.

Former Venice Indians shortstop Dalton Guthrie was named as one of nine prep baseball players from around the country selected to the 2014 Rawlings High School Gold Glove team.

Guthire, a 4-year starter at shortstop who was a key part of the Indians’ 2012 and 2013 state championship teams, was the only player from Florida selected for the award. Rawlings Gold Glove winners are nominated for superior fielding skills.
