In September, when the water is at its hottest and darkest, chunks of cut fish are one of the best baits you can use. Here we are in February. The water is at its coldest, but it’s nearly as dark as it usually in during the summer rainy season. And guess what? One of the best baits you can use is — wait for it — chunks of cut fish.
Why? Well, in both cases, we’re dealing with fish that are a bit lazy. Fish that are too cold or too hot generally don’t want to chase down food if they can avoid it. A piece of cut fish very conveniently sits there, waiting for a hungry mouth to show up.
