I was visiting my dad in South Gulf Cove fishing this weekend. We didn’t do much; some sharks and catfish in the Harbor. But I decided to put some pinfish out in the canals in SGC and we ended up with these whopper bass. Now I have a argument going with my friends and family. They don’t believe this is a smallmouth bass in the second picture. The first photo (the one with my little boy in it) I believe is a largemouth bass because it has that low underslung jaw. The second fish, however, was completely different. Yes, it has a big mouth, but I believe it is a smallmouth bass. It measured in at about 21 inches; it was a real whopper. Can you end the debate and tell me what to fish I have here? I love your magazine — thanks for everything.
