Snook are one of the most sought-after gamefish in Southwest Florida. Tangle with a big one and you’ll see why. They’re strong and speedy — but they’re nothing compared to a big king mackerel. Snook can make fast runs, but they don’t smoke your line as they cut through the water like kings do. Snook can pull, but they won’t melt line off your spool like a king will.
I love catching snook, but if you like high-speed action you need to try kingfish on light tackle. For extra fun, the little tunny mixed in are also hard-charging speed demons. Here are some refresher ideas for anyone that wants some help catching both, and some Spanish macks too.
