Winter is finally here — winter by Florida standards, anyway. This week’s cold front is a good one, with several consecutive nights in the 30s and snow flurries reported in Sarasota County. After a long, hot summer that seemed like it was never going to end, this abrupt change is going to have a major impact on our fishing.
With cold temperatures and low tides, the flats get exposed to the heat-stealing north winds. This is what really cools our Harbor down quickly. When changes are rapid, fish must react just as quickly.
