I was visiting my mother’s house last week and my sister was there with all four (!) of her kids. Mom and Sis had some “adult talk” things to discuss, so it worked out well when the three boys (11-year-old Israel, 10-year-old Micah and 5-year-old Elijah) asked if they could go out in the woods with Uncle Josh.
Armed with a dip net, camera and some assorted sticks, we trooped off into the 180-acre cow pasture where I spent thousands of hours as a boy. We looked for squirrels, watched birds soar overhead and peered into gopher tortoise burrows. Eventually we arrived at the creek.
