Since it’s cold, windy and red tide has still been around, I went bass fishing last week. Capt. Morris Campbell spends his time away from his real job captaining a big Viking yacht to guide bass trips. He called because he had a last-minute cancellation, and I couldn’t resist an invitation to join him. Morris is fishing wherever the best fishing is. We fished the east coast, west of I-95. With his lifetime of knowledge fishing fresh and salt water, I knew it would be a memorable trip.
The fishing and scenery were awesome. It was chilly but a beautiful sunny day on the lakes. We did have lengthy rides through the real Florida to reach the boat ramp but found it empty at daybreak. I was excited to see a rookery directly across from the ramp lot. It was loaded with bright pink roseate spoonbills. I was glad I brought my telephoto lens.
