After my last column, I had two gentlemen, Gary and Bud, give me a call to take me up on what I was talking about. They are first-timers to fly fishing (and to fishing in general) and they wanted to try something new. We set up a time and they met me for a casting lesson. I can and will supply all the gear if you don’t have your own, as I did for these two fellows. We worked for about an hour and a half on mechanics and techniques of casting. They really enjoyed it.
After the session, they decided that they were committed to giving the sport a try so they decided on a day and time to meet at West Wall Outfitters to try out rods. I met them there (as I said I would in the column) and they purchased new rods, reels, lines and leaders.
