Cold slows the bite

I left Wisconsin to never have to freeze again — and yet, there was some thawing out to be done after we got back to the weigh-in after our first tournament of the year. Believe it or not, the warmest temperature we had was prior to take-off in the morning.

As I loaded up the boat last Saturday morning, I figured that if the temperature simply held at the point where it was, the day wouldn’t be that bad. I walked out of the RV with my tournament shirt (long-sleeve dry-fit), and a hooded sweatshirt. I felt comfortable. By the time I got done loading the rods and backing the boat in the water, I was swapping my hooded sweatshirt for a bigger jacket. Before we took off, I ran back in to put the hooded sweatshirt on under my big jacket. That’s not what I call Florida weather.
