One of my favorite places to fish are some of the creeks that feed into Charlotte Harbor. Some are barely big enough to get a cast into; others are more than big enough to fit your whole boat. Some of them even have names — Trout Creek and Rock Creek are pretty well known. Others don’t have names, and some have a different name depending on who you talk to.
Creeks are great places for smaller fish like finger mullet and sand bream to hide. It’s also a great place for many species of crabs. All of this food will eventually attract our regular gamefish. Sometimes it will even attract some of our irregular game fish like cobia and sharks, depending on the size of the creek.
