Bad news for the land-based fishing crowd: Two of Charlotte County’s most popular piers are closed, one because of hurricane damage and one due to a fire. Now for the worse news: They’re gonna be closed for a while.
You guys remember Irma, right? While Charlotte Harbor was spared the worst of the storm, it wasn’t exactly a miss. Really, it’s surprising that wooden structures on the water fared as well as they did. The more westerly pier in Bayshore Live Oak Park (known as the Bayshore Fishing Pier, not to be confused with the Bayshore Live Oak Park Pier at the east end of the park) suffered some damage.
