Being a fishing guide here in Southwest Florida and the co-host of a radio show that is geared toward fishing (Fishing Talk Radio, Saturday mornings from 7 to 9 a.m. on KIX Country 92.9 FM) I get asked a lot of questions about — well, fishing. I like to listen to people as they ask me questions, because most of the time they answer their own question while in the process of asking it. This makes my answer much easier to come by.
I’ve concluded the only reason people ask me what I think is because they want me to validate that what they are doing or what they are using gives them the best possible chance to catch what they are targeting. They don’t really want to hear my opinion — they want to hear their opinion coming out of my mouth. I have also concluded that no matter what answer I give, they just go ahead with whatever they were planning in the first place. I guess the old saying “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks” still holds true.
