A mosquito may not actually be the devil himself — but these bloodsuckers certainly do the devil’s work. Who among us has not been driven nearly mad by the constant whine of a thousand tiny wings on a damp subtropical night, or scratched themselves raw trying to alleviate the unbearable itch of mosquito bites?
And yet, like every other thread in nature’s finely detailed tapestry of life, these insects have an important role to play in the wild.
