September is here— are you ready? September is National Preparedness Month. Really, a month of preparedness is minimally effective, since our hurricane season reaches far into the fall season. Flooding, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornados or other natural or man-made disasters can happen at any time. Even boating accidents happen when we least expect it. If a disaster were to hit your neighborhood, would you be prepared?
National Preparedness Month is sponsored by the Ready Campaign (www.ready.gov) and Citizen Corps (www.citizencorps.gov). NPM is held in September and is designed to encourage Americans to take simple steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses and communities.
