PLACIDA — At a time when few locals had even heard of kayaks, Marian Schneider took a chance on what would become one of the area’s prime ecotourism attractions.
“I brought the first 12 kayaks into this county, and people didn’t know what they were,” Schneider said. “Everything that Grande Tours did, we were the first dog off the porch.”
