Sure, you want to change things for the better — everyone does. But who has the time? It takes a lot of energy to put yourself out there, even in a small way. And getting involved is a pain in the backside. There’s always somebody mad at you for something. It’s a bunch of work for little reward. No matter how much you put into it, the end result will never be what you had envisioned in the first place.
These things are all true, but they’re also just a pile of excuses. We’re really good at coming up with excuses for why we can’t do things, and then convincing ourselves that they’re reasons, not excuses. Meh.
