It was Sunday afternoon, and I suddenly got the urge to go kayaking. I live in North Port, so going down to Pine Island Sound was too far — one of my favorite locations. I remembered driving past a boat ramp in Englewood, just past Fisherman’s Edge and Lemon Bay High School. It’s called Ainger Creek Park, and I’ve wanted to launch there for some time now.

I usually don’t kayak by myself, and I don’t recommend it, but this was one of those times when I had my heart set on it. I had my flotation device, water, horn and flashlight — and as always, my fishing pole.
